This is our Small Rifle Primer version of the 6.5 Creedmoor. The 6.5 Creedmoor was designed as a target caliber in 2007 by Hornady but has become an extremely popular hunting caliber as well. While it isn't as long as some of the other 6.5 caliber short action calibers, such as the .260 Remington, the Creedmoor utilizes a 30° shoulder and very little body taper to help it achieve similar ballistics. The shorter length also gives it more versatility as far as bullet seating depth is concerned. Almost every major rifle manufacturer offers either a bolt-action rifle or a modern sporting rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor caliber due to its versatility and inherent accuracy.

Our SR6.5CM brass uses a Small Rifle Primer. Many target shooters prefer the Small Primer for the increased consistency and accuracy. While other small pocket manufacturers use a smaller than standard flash hole, Starline uses our standard .080" flash hole, as we feel that it gives better ignition with some of the slower powders and in cooler conditions* (and you won't be breaking off decapping pins either!)  The Small Primer version also maintains primer pocket size much better than the large primer version under higher pressures.

For our Large Primer version please see our 6.5 Creedmoor case.

For more information about the 6.5 Creedmoor, check out The Complete 6.5 Creedmoor Starline Cartridge Guide.

*As with all types of cases this large with small primer pockets, it will require care in powder and primer selection in cooler temperatures to prevent hang fires. Single-based propellants are generally easier to ignite and a quality primer such as the Remington 7 1/2 BR are recommended.

**WARNING** In firearms that use a floating firing pin (such as the AR-15 and its variants), dropping the bolt on a chambered round could lead to a slam fire. It is important that these firearms are loaded from the magazine so that the bolt loses inertia when it strips a round from the magazine. It is also important NOT to use sensitive primers that aren’t designed for use in an AR, as this increases the chance of a slam fire.

Good brass, with minimal prep work (measure, check flash holes, primer pocket uniform, chamfer and deburr mouth) I was getting SD's between 4 and 5 doing load development on virgin brass. It has just gotten better and more consistent during second fire tests. I haven't even sorted by weight or volume yet. I am using a very good analytical balance for powder weighing and high end seating dies, but this brass is certainly doing it's part and doing it well.

This brass is fantastic. I absolutely love the fact that you do not have to worry about purchasing another decapping pin like you do on Lapua brass because it uses a smaller flash hole. You can use your regular decapping pin or Universal decapping die. Also I've had some really low SD numbers with this brass which is why I purchased another hundred. I also like the fact that they give you two extra pieces of brass with every hundred purchased. Just in case you have a oops or you happen to damage one, you have a few spares. I really wish more companies did this because there is nothing worse than having 99 or 98 pieces of brass because one got messed up. I will definitely be purchasing more Starline brass in the very near future. I will probably switch over my 308 or 30 ought 6 brass to Starline

Had been using lapua brass thought I'd try this and very glad I did. Ran comparison test between the two and found no difference in accuracy, velocity, or ES. Only difference I can see is PRICE.

I first purchased 100 cases with large rifle primer pocket. I was so impressed I bought 500 cases with small primer pocket. Also purchased 500 308 Win. cases. Not one ding on any cases, prep was so much easier than with other brands, besides Lapua. Flash hole did not need deburing, at the range with the 6.5 Creedmoor LR pocket SD was 7.2 pretty awesome. I highly recommend this brass.
