The 6.5 Grendel was designed for use in an AR-15 type rifle to offer ballistics similar to the .308 Winchester, with less recoil. This flat shooting round utilizes the inherently accurate, high ballistic coefficient 6.5mm diameter bullet. Its short case length allows it to use some of the longer, heavier match bullets, making this caliber one of the best choices for long range shooting out of an AR. With proper bullet selection, this caliber is no slouch in the field either, being suitable for deer-size game as well as varmint hunting.

Conversion of an AR to 6.5 Grendel requires a new bolt, barrel and magazines to feed the larger diameter cartridge. Several companies offer completed AR uppers and firearms, and reloading dies are readily available. Several manufacturers are now producing bolt action rifles in this caliber, many of which are built on “mini” actions, making for a lightweight rifle with plenty of range.

Our 6.5 Grendel brass uses the standard .080" flash hole as opposed to a few companies that use the .060" flash hole.

**WARNING** In firearms that use a floating firing pin (such as the AR-15 and its variants), dropping the bolt on a chambered round could lead to a slam fire. It is important that these firearms are loaded from the magazine so that the bolt loses inertia when it strips a round from the magazine. It is also important NOT to use sensitive primers that aren’t designed for use in an AR, as this increases the chance of a slam fire.

We use these for both 6.5 Grendel and to fire form Robert Whitely's 6mm AR Turbo 40 Improved. The thing is a 500 yard, sub-moa beast out of a 1:7 twist 26" Krieger tube. We use Starline as our go to for multiple cartridges and they all perform.

Every caliber I have purchased from Starline has exceeded my expectations. All of their brass, including the 6.5 Grendel, has been consistent by weight and dimensions. Highly recommend this brass and any other caliber Starline makes. Don't buy any, I want it all for myself lol

I have never had a bad batch of Starline brass… not in any caliber. It’s the best value brass on the market in my opinion. It easily shoots just as tiny groups as Lapua does. I lightly debur the flash holes and weight sort lots of 1000. Brass is consistent and last for many more firings then other brands. My only complaint is finding it in stock. But it’s pretty much that way with any reloading supplies these days, Demand is high and raw materials are hard to come by. Buy it if it’s in stock.

Good brass. It would be really great if I could buy 6mm ARC in stead of having to form it from 6.5 Grendel

This is just the latest one in a whole line-up of Starline brass that I've used. As usual, it is well made and in near perfect condition which is a blessing for bulk brass. The primer pockets are tight and uniform depth. The case length is within a few thousands. I will of course ream the inside of the primer hole and chamfer the case mouth but other than that they are ready to load. I can't say enough good things about Starline brass as they my brass of preference these days. For the cost I can't justify any other.

My students are trained on reloading this brass. .. I also supplied other mfg. brass and they learned fast that QUALITY is king. I chose the Grendel for training because it is a great all round cartridge for most anything east of the Mississippi.. It shoots well with the 6.5 bullets, has no feeding problems and is a easy round in the AR platform as well as bolt guns. It also is easy on powder plus it also has a very long case life.

First class Brass.. Worth waiting for no matter the time it takes. My students in reloading class love it and are only buying USA made brass.

Starline rifle brass is IMPRESSIVE! I started with Federal factory loads, in my newest precision rifle, to obtain the brass. Since this is for a precision rifle, I match prepp'd the Federal, deburr flashholes (that weren't round and had huge burrs), uniform primer pockets (some only about 65% since they were so uneven) and trimmed (varying lengths) after first firing. I was so Unimpressed that I ordered Starline to give their rifle brass a try since I've had such great luck with their pistol brass. After receiving quickly (THANK YOU!!) I attempted to match prep and found it was completely unnecessary! Primer pockets are flat and uniform, flashhole is round and has no burr as its obviously formed with a punch that rolls it over on the inside of the case. I FL sized the cases and my first 50 were all with in .003" of one another and just under trim length. After some load work up, the gun easily shoots under 1/2 moa (5-shots) and consistently(now that I've loaded and shot most all of the 250 I purchased). Thanks Starline for another fantastic product. I'll be trying Valkyrie brass next! ;-)
