This obsolete vintage cartridge was originally designed for use with both smokeless and black powder. Our case is properly sized to fit in even the tightest chambers.*  Internal capacity is similar to that of Winchester brass.  Wall thickness at mouth is .0095" average.

*Note: In firearms with larger chambers, this brass may become shorter than desired after fire-forming. Those shooters who wish to have brass that is longer than 2.090" after fire forming and neck sizing should form our .45-70 brass into .40-65 as a good alternative.

* Starline Brass does not sell any loaded ammunition. What you are purchasing are brass cases only and will need to be loaded into ammunition in order to be fired from a firearm.

Product Review
Used this brass in 40-65 WCF. Also, after annealing, have reformed to 38-56 WCF without any problems. Resized some to 33 WCF using 348 WCF die as an intermediate step, still have problems, but, not as many rejects as with 45-70 brass. Overall, this is very high quality brass, thank you Starline.

Reloading for a Shiloh Sharps using 400 grain .410 diameter cast bullets. Brass works well, have not "lost" any yet to failure. This brass has allowed me to use my Sharps to my great enjoyment. Brass was very uniform in length, case mouths were not out of round, and primed easily. Very satisfied.

Received 200 nickel Starline brass and 50 brass cases (from another manufacturer.) Fired both types of brass in my Shiloh Sharps and nickel Starline is by far my favorite. Used smokeless powder and nickel cases wiped clean with a soft cloth. Neck sized only by lubing only 3/4 inch of every third case. After sizing tumbled in case cleaner to remove what small amount of lube was present. Recently bought 250 brass Starline cases. Can't wait to see how they compare. Happy with nickel cases.
